Guide to Installing a Bathroom Floor Drain
How to Install Mosaic Tiles
Preparation

Once the surface has been properly prepared, begin laying the base tiles around the drain. Take a sheet of mosaic, place it in the middle of the shower tray, and set the drain cover on top as a reference point. Secure the paper backing with adhesive tape (if the tiles are pre-assembled on mesh) and, starting from the center of the drain, use a compass to draw a circle with a diameter matching the drain cover plus 5 mm (the width of one tile). This will show you exactly where to cut the mosaic.
Laying the Tiles

Cut along the line on the tiles using a diamond cutting blade. Cut gently and repeat the process frequently to prevent the tiles from overheating and breaking. Prepare the mortar and begin laying the sheets, starting in the middle of the shower tray.
Continue placing the sheets around the cut sheet until you reach its edge.
Finishing

Once the installation is complete, the area around the drain cover will still need to be filled in. Prepare individual tiles from the sheets and use nippers to shape them, then finish cutting them with a diamond blade to create trapezoids that fit perfectly side by side in a circle. It is very important to leave a small gap of about 4 mm around the drain cover, which will be filled with flexible sealant after grouting. This is essential to allow for the expansion caused by temperature changes that the materials will experience during use.
You can now proceed with grouting, cleaning, and applying the sealant.
